Being "consistent" doesn't mean posting "more"
You can send one email a month and be more consistent than someone posting 3x a week
How's that for an opening line today?
Even better, it's true.
Let me explain.
I've been thinking about content a lot lately. I finally have my new service ready to book, and so it's time to come back from the 'head down, getting sh*t done, doh! don't get distracted phase' and you know...put it out there.
At the same time, my brain fog and distraction (I call this my 'maybe adhd') have been ridiculous.
So I've had to get brutally honest with myself about what I can do, consistently.
Which is very different than what cadence I do.
And that, my friend, is where a lot of the marketing advice out there is confusing and, sometimes, just wrong.
Cadence vs. Consistency: There's a Difference
Cadence is the frequency part -> how often you post, email, go live, whatever. It's the "3x a week" or the "once a month."
Consistency is whether you actually do the thing you said you were going to do.
For a long time, "be consistent" meant "post more." Which is not what it means, or ever did.
BUT it did a really good job making it hard to market consistently if you were managing health symptoms -> especially if the thought of batching kills your creativity or is way too much work to think about.
So if you said you'd send one email a month...and you do that...you're consistent. Full stop.
The fact that someone else emails weekly doesn't make them more consistent than you. It means their cadence is higher. That's it.
Translation: any time you find yourself feeling like you're drowning in all the things you 'should' be doing to market your business, don't. Instead, try simply adjusting the frequency of your tactics. That's it.
Because any cadence is still consistency 😊
