What to do when you aren’t feeling it

We all have them. Days, weeks, months when we simply aren’t feeling it.

It could be personal life, professional life, the world (gestures broadly).

I’ve been feeling that for a few days. And while I know some of what’s causing it, this time that’s not making me feel any better. SO, here are some things I do when this happens.

  1. Take a rest day. Yup, sometimes we just need a day off. If you can’t take a full day, try taking an hour or even 15 minutes.

  2. Go outside. Nature soothes me. It’s grounding. Especially to my fire-self (my astrology is basically all fire).

  3. Ground myself. I have a few ways I do this. I (try) to sit quietly, with my eyes closed, and imagine roots growing from my body into the earth. To soak up some of that grounding earth energy. If that’s not working, I listen to guided meditations on Insight Timer. And if I can’t sit still long enough to even do that, I’ll listen to binaural beats. The app, Beatfulness, is my favorite for that.

  4. Push myself. Yes, push myself. Sometimes, my inaction is simply based in fear. So I give myself one thing to do. Today’s example: writing this blog post which will also go into my newsletter and an IG post.

  5. Phone a friend. I have a set of go-to women I can text to get a pep talk, or work through what’s going on.

  6. Reiki. When none of the above are working, I call in a bigger gun. I haven’t had the energy to Reiki myself lately, so I messaged my teacher and booked a session with her.

And that’s it. I don’t even have a clever way to sign off, because it’s just one of those days.
