How Relevant is your offer?

There's a LOT of info out there about marketing your offer.

After 4 years in the online space, I feel like I've seen it all.

Which is why I'm sharing some of the things I learned in my 20 years of working in advertising and marketing.

The first thing I learned as an advertising strategist:

Good advertising (and marketing) is both Relevant and Distinct.

In an agency setting, it's the creatives job to make the advertising/marketing distinct from competitors.

As entrepreneurs, we do this with branding, graphics, tone of voice, etc.

Relevance was the job of the strategist aka me.

Relevant

def: Meaningful or purposeful in current society or culture.

In other words: meaningful to your audience. Being relevant is how your offer connects to your audience.

Typically, the way online service providers connect to their audience is through Pain Points + Desires (vs Relevance).

But no one talks about how these have to be relevant to your audience. If your audience isn't really suffering from the pain points you use, and/or they don't want the desired results, your messaging will be ineffective.

And your offer may fall flat.
